This event will focus on the ICT Call 8 Objective "Intelligent Information Management (Objective ICT-2011.4.4)", aiming to "...scaling up data analysis to keep pace with the rate of growth of data streams and collections and enable novel forms of real time intelligence that only become possible on extremely large data volumes". The purpose of the event is to inform about the scope of the call and to assist prospective proposers, preparing project proposals, to facilitate sharing of ideas and experiences. It will give participants the chance to network, to find partners for their projects and get feedback on proposal ideas from officials of the European Commission. Participation is free of charge but subject to prior registration and confirmation.

The notion of collaborative production of eGovernment services refers to the modernisation of the way governments engage and work together with their citizens in developing policies and how these citizens are empowered to harness the opportunities that new technologies have to offer. During the workshop, the achieved benefits and public value created through the joint production of services by public administrations and citizens will be discussed through the presentation of case studies. The interim findings of a study on collaborative e-Government will also be presented and discussed.

- FUTURAGE Road Map Launch Conference: Meeting the Grand Challenge of Ageing: the New European Research Agenda

This conference will launch the FUTURAGE Road Map, which will provide a European research agenda for ageing research for the next 10 years. The Road Map will be presented in the European Parliament at this conference hosted by the STOA Panel of MEPs. Drawing on two years of work, eight stages of consultation with over 700 contributors the Road Map will shape the ageing research agenda in Horizon 2020 - the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The Road Map is one of the major strategic European initiatives addressing the grand challenge of the ageing population. Parallel initiatives including the Active and Healthy Ageing Innovation Partnership, European Research Area in Ageing, Joint Programme Initiative and the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012 will also be participating. The event is aimed at European, Member State and regional ageing research stakeholders.

- Addressing evolving needs for cross-border eGovernment services

This workshop will focus on the evolving needs of the European Union towards a more efficient delivery of ICT-facilitated public services for citizens and businesses across the EU. The target is to widen the scope of use of the electronic means that public administrations have at their disposal outside the local, regional or national level. A further aim is to facilitate mobility of businesses and citizens i.e. for entrepreneurs to set up and run a business anywhere in Europe and allowing individuals to study, work, reside, receive health care and retire anywhere in the European Union.

The study examines the current situation and the dynamics of the ICT societies in Europe, and proposes strategies to help overcome ICT society fragmentation, increasingly seen as a major bottleneck to their future development and their impact on research, innovation and policy-making. The study also created and developed an online inventory describing 442 societies throughout Europe to be used as a reference tool.
