HARVESTING HIGH-SAFE SODIUM METAL ANODES VIA TUNNING SURFACE ENERGY OF THE SUBSTRACT

What we offer?
CIC energiGUNE is now offering the opportunity to complete the Research PhD project on the following subject: Harvesting high-safe sodium metal anodes via tunning surface energy of the substract.
The candidate will be hired at CIC energiGUNE with and employment contract for three year.
Applications are open to students worldwide with a Master Degree in related subjects: materials science, physics and chemistry.
Knowledge in the in the field of lithium/sodium ion batteries would be desired but it would not be an exclusive point.
Applicants should be fluent in English.
We are looking for a highly motivated, talented and committed student with a solid background in materials science. The present PhD thesis is a multidisciplinary task:
1. Electrochemical workstation is needed to analyze the performance of Na anode;
2. Contact angle measurement is required to detect the state of substrate surface;
3. Plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition is demanded for modifying the Na plated substrate;
4. Glove box is a necessary equipment;
5. Last but not least, intensive TEM/SEM investigation and in-situ sample transfer device will address the central surface/interface issue.
PhD project Description
Supervisor: Dr. Wei Zhang (Head of Electron Microscopy Lab and Ikerbasque Research Professor)
Based on our new concept of alkali metal anode dendrite, the present proposal aims to harvest Na metal anode with high safety and high columbic efficiency through development of 3D substrate materials possessing continuous high surface energy.
