100+ PhD positions in Computer Systems in UK
The UK government announced two new centres in doctoral training (CDTs) in computer systems today as part of a £350m investment in science and engineering: http://www.epsrc.ac.uk/newsevents/news/2013/Pages/phdnewcentres.aspx
The two centres are based at Imperial College London and the University of Edinburgh. Each centre will fully fund 50+ PhD students over the next 5 years, in partnership with major companies.
The CDT in High-Performance Embedded and Distributed Systems is based in the Department of Computing and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London. Led by Professor Wayne Luk, it aims to combine design, optimisation, analysis and verification, all the way from sensors to the cloud. For more details, see: http://wp.doc.ic.ac.uk/hipeds/
The CDT in Pervasive Parallelism led by Professor Mike O'Boyle in the School of Informatics, University Edinburgh seeks to address the challenges at the end of the era of sequential computing. For more details, see: http://pervasiveparallelism.inf.ed.ac.uk/
