OBJECT:
Six months, extendible for additional 6 months (maximum, 12 months). Research Program on dementia/Alzheimer's disease at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), Dublin, Ireland, for the first 5 months. The remaining 7 months, held at the Alzheimer Center Queen Sofia Foundation.
The winner applicant will have outstanding opportunities to be actively involved in a multidisciplinary collaborative research program on neurodegeneration and dementia mechanisms already ongoing between both institutions.
Research focused in three possible areas:
1. Early detection of mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease
2. miRNA biomarkers
3. Systems biology of Alzheimer disease

PERIOD OF THE STAY:
October 2016 – March 2017

REQUIREMENT AT RETURNING:
Report of activities carried out during the stay
TOTAL AMOUNT: 16.000€
This amount will be paid as follows:
75%: Advanced monthly payment, during six months.
25%: To the delivery of the final Report

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Required Certification:
Graduate in a biomedical specialty (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Medicine or similar), preferably with accredited expertise in experimental research.
2. Required education or experience:
In clinical and/or basic research related to the following topics:
 Neurodegenerative diseases, OR
 Early diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer's disease or dementia, OR
 Biomarkers, OR
 MicroRNAs
MERITS TO BE CONSIDERED:
CV: Student record (University marks), PhD, specialty, training in research
Publications: Research articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals
Research experience: Participation in research projects, especially in experimental or clinical research of neurodegenerative diseases and/or dementia.
