Calls for proposals for exhibition and networking session at ICT2010 : only a week left to apply !

(8 April 2010)We wish to remind you that the calls for proposals for exhibition and networking session at ICT2010 will be open only for another week (closing date 15 April). We invite any organisation involved in European research and development to submit their ideas for an exhibit at ICT2010 on 27-29 September 2010. The call is open to all sorts of actors in ICT research: universities, research institutes, non-profit organisations, public authorities and commercial companies including small and medium sized enterprises. The exhibition is also an opportunity to explore what is happening at the coal face in your area of interest and to find potential future collaborators. Don't forget that ICT2010 will also host dozens of networking sessions to facilitate contacts between researchers and innovators, engineers and investors from all fields of digital innovation. This is your chance to build future partnerships with the right people in your field!

AAL Forum - Active Ageing: Smart Solutions, New Markets

15 September 2010 - 17 September 2010 Odense, Denmark

The Ambient Assisted Living Forum (AAL Forum 2010) aims to provide a platform for all stakeholders - investors, researchers, policy makers, industry providers and end-users - to discuss smart solutions for improved quality of life in later years. Ambient Assisted Living Technology is a relatively new and vibrant field of investment, research and development. Policy makers are already exploring options and planning on future technology investments in this area. Several regional and national initiatives are emerging around Europe to support public and private investment. In support of this, the 2010 AAL Forum will now launch and host the first ever European 'AAL Investment Forum'. The objective of the one-day Investment Forum is to improve communication between investors and researchers and introduce investors to projects which require immediate and/or long term funding. The event will provide a matchmaking bazaar and tailored presentations for investors, software developers and other interested parties.

This seminar addresses the topic of Smart Innovation and aims to bring together key players in the field of ICT in France and Finland to identify cooperative research and business development opportunities. The event will bring together high-level representatives from the European Commission, from industry and a wide range of stakeholders from SMEs to associations.

CALL FOR TENDERS
Ex-ante advertising for a negotiated procedure for a contract of a total value below EUR 60.000 "Coordinator for the second assessment of the implementation of the Safer Social Networking Principles for the EU "

(Deadline: 07/05/2010) We look for one researcher to assist the Commission with carrying out a second assessment of the implementation of the Safer Social Networking Principles for the EU. The main tasks to be carried out would include: Develop a methodology for the second assessment of the implementation of the Safer Social Networking Principles for the EU ; Adapt the methodology to the different types of social networking platforms signatories to the Principles ; Coordinate a team of national researchers who will implement the methodology and ensure quality control of their work ; Write a report on the main findings of the second assessment of the implementation of the Safer Social Networking Principles for the EU. Deadline for receipt of the supporting documents for pre-selection criteria: 7 May 2010.

ICT 2010: Call for proposals for exhibits - Submission deadline extended

(29 March 2010)The European Commission has today extended the deadline for the Exhibition Call at ICT2010 to 15 April 2010. Any organisation involved in European research and development is invited to submit their ideas for an exhibit at ICT2010, taking place in Brussels on 27-29 September 2010. The call is open to all sorts of actors in ICT research: universities, research institutes, non-profit organisations, public authorities and commercial companies including small and medium sized enterprises.

Western Balkan Countries' ICT Idea Competition

(29 March 2010)Since 2008, Western Balkan countries (WBC) have been full members to the EU's Framework Programmes. A campaign has now been launched to overcome inherent barriers and shortcomings that inhibit more active participation of WBC researchers in EU-funded programmes. This competition is open to anybody carrying out research or development in the ICT area who has forward looking research ideas. These could be researchers or developers from research institutions, NGOs, administrations or companies based in the WBC. Research ideas could eventually be turned into project proposals to be financed by FP7/ICT. The six best ideas will be awarded participation to the ICT 2010 event in Brussels. In addition the winners will receive support to write a proposal or be included in a proposal to FP7/ICT. Deadline for submission of ideas is 15 May 2010.

eInclusion of Youth at Risk - INCLUSO 2010 conference

13 September 2010 - 14 September 2010 Leuven, Belgium

This event is organised by the INCLUSO project, aiming to gather international specialists in the field of social software use and improvement of social inclusion for disadvantaged youngsters. Delegates from decision making groups such as governments and the European Commission will be among the participants. A call for papers has been launched (Deadline 22 March). The collaborative INCLUSO project (funded under FP7) aims to deliver a verifiable proof that ICT, and more precisely social software tools, can facilitate social inclusion of youth at risk.

Regulatory framework for electronic communications in the European Union

Further to the adoption of the EU electronic communications reform package in November 2009 the Commission produced a collection of relevant texts concerning the new rules. This collection of texts is now available online and could be a useful resource for those concerned with the application of law in the electronic communications sector. The booklet includes a consolidated version of the electronic communications framework as amended in 2009, as well as other applicable rules, such as those related to frequency policy.
