PSSJD is a private non-profit institution that includes a general hospital and a large network of mental health services which provides comprehensive mental health and disability services, including neurodegenerative diseases. PSSJD also focuses on bringing together basic research scientists and research clinicians in the areas of public health, mental disorders and disability. Is affiliated with the University of Barcelona and provides pre and post-graduate education in health sciences.

The Teaching, Research and Innovation Unit of PSSJD is organized has five research groups: 1) Etiopathogenesis and treatment of severe mental disorders; 2) Population impact of mental disorders and ageing; 3) Mental disorders in primary care; 4) High prevalence medical disorders; and 5) Innovation in surgery. Multidisciplinary, the cautious observation of ethical principles and the harmonization of research and health care delivery are three of the characteristic traits of the investigation at PSSJD.

Requirements

Academic:
• PhD degree.
Experience:
• Research experience in epidemiology.
• High impact publications for the last five years.
Technical skills:
• Knowledge of statistics and epidemiology. It will be appreciated Knowledge in the field of aging and/or mental health.

Task:
• You are going to work in an international project funded by the European Commission of determinants of healthy ageing. The project will harmonize dataset from prospective population cohorts in order to define pathways of healthy ageing. We plan to detect when in time risk and protective factors do affect heath trajectories. The candidate will lead one of the research lines. The candidate will be encouraged to develop his/her own research lines.
Language skills:
• Excellent English level

Other skills:
• Independent. Highly motivated and pro-active. Time management skills. Rigorous, meticulous, attention to detail. The ability to communicate results effectively in writing and verbally with colleagues in any discipline. Team work.
