CIC Energigune is a new energy research centre based in the Basque Country of Spain. Its mission is to play a leading role on the international stage in the field of energy storage technologies and contribute to the industrial competitiveness of Basque Country. CIC has a world-class research facility, cutting-edge equipments, an experienced management team, and a scientific committee composed of prominent scientists, entrepreneurs, and industrial experts.
We are now inviting applications for a Technician position in the area of High and Medium temperature Thermal Energy Storage. The work will be carried out within several projects related to thermal energy storage materials for high temperature applications.

The development and utilization of solar energy is strongly linked to the identification/modification of suitable materials that could be good energy storage media. Especially when we consider energy storage through latent (by using phase change materials) or sensible heat, a great number of possible materials that could be used are quoted in literature but, at this stage, none of them possess all the requirements needed for an application in solar power plants.

The thermal energy storage group of CIC Energigune is focused on the research of different classes of materials as possible thermal energy storage systems at medium to high temperatures. The goal is to identify the most promising candidates for a future application in concentrated solar power plants or/and in industrial heat recovery.

What we offer
We are offering a position for laboratory technician that will join the Device, Prototyping and Testing Group of Thermal Energy Storage (TES) Area. The technician will have the possibility to develop his/her expertise in a multicultural environment working together in a dynamic group of researchers. The technician will mainly contribute with experimental activities to be performed in currently running projects (Regional and EU-H2020) The studies to be performed will allow to optimize the charging-discharging processes of thermal energy storage systems using different heat transfer fluids, materials as well as different configurations.

The main tasks will be:
- to support the researchers in the design and construction of thermal energy storage systems,
- to perform experimental tests in laboratory scale devices up to 10 tons by means of several installations such as the 40 kW electrical oil closed loop with a maximum working temperature of 400 ºC and an air open loop of 100 kW electrical that will be commissioned on the first semester of 2016.
- to develop the testing facilities
- to be responsible of the testing platform

What we are looking for

We are looking for candidates that hold a medium or advance level of vocational/professional training in Mechanics and/or Electronics. The candidate should have experience on several of the following points:
-Design tools: Catia, Solidworks or similar.
-Programming with Labview.
-Instrumentation control and data collection (transducers, thermocouples, etc).
-Close contact with providers of industrial components.
-R&D

We expect high readiness to work with strong engagement and creativity in an interdisciplinary and international environment.

Applicants should be good in English.
