Predoctoral Fellowship in Biomedicine

We seek for an excellent and highly motivated student to enroll in a research project in breast cancer.

We request a student:
- Highly motivated for research
- Fluent in English
- With good graduate qualifications (more than 2.3 over 4)

We offer:
- A competitive research project focused on the molecular mechanisms influencing breast cancer resistance to endocrine therapy.
- Joining a multidisciplinary team with clinician and basic scientists.
- Strong project orientation towards clinical application of findings
- Excellent scientific environment at Bellvitge Institute for Biomedical Research (IDIBELL)
- One year salary. From the end of first year, continuation of the project will depend upon competitive grant application.
- Immediate incorporation.

Over the past decades a tremendous progress has been achieved in treatment of breast cancer. One of the mainstays of breast cancer control is endocrine therapy. Nevertheless, overcoming up-front and acquired resistance to hormonal treatment of breast cancer is one of the most challenging unmet needs in cancer medicine. On the basis of previous work we have described a number of potential key molecular determinants of resistance to oestrogen deprivation in breast cancer. Candidate will enrol a pre-existing programme to define these novel potential therapeutic targets and validate novel therapeutic strategies in this area.
