Call for proposals Challenge 5: ICT for Health, Ageing Well, Inclusion and Governance

Challenge 5 builds on the previous research activities on health, ageing, inclusion, and governance. It aims to support new policy developments such as the Digital Agenda for Europe, the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing and Horizon 2020. It adapts also to better support innovation and activities closer to the market like pre-commercial procurement actions and platforms supporting social innovation. The focus will be on development of solutions that empower the individual, in a social context, to improve and manage personal life as a citizen, elderly, patient, consumer, civil servant or worker. Call for Proposals: Cross-border services, investment readiness and legal advice for ICT SMEs, start-ups and entrepreneurs

The overall objective of the call 10 (Objective ICT-2013.11.5) for proposal is to drive innovation, facilitate technology transfer, support entrepreneurship and the creation of start-ups and spinoffs etc, contributing to the exploitation of more innovative products and services out of EU R&D projects. This should be done through actions and events organised in thematic domains as well as the use of existing electronic platforms and networking tools. European business to increase R&D spending despite crisis

Top EU businesses expect their investments in research and development to grow by an average of 4% annually over the period 2012 to 2014, according to a Commission survey of some of Europe's companies that invest the most in R&D.

Personal Health Records: Empowering patients through information systems? manuscript submission deadline 01/02/2013

Focusing in on European research in central and eastern Europe

European research, technology and development has long been at the forefront of many breakthroughs but, according to the European Science Foundation, a rethink needs to occur to identify the challenges of the future and new agendas being developed.

New official website of the Ambient Assisted Living Joint Programme (AAL JP)

The Ambient Assisted Living Joint Programme (AAL JP) launched its new official website to the public - www.aal-europe.eu The portal, with its simple and fresh layout, is the next phase of the AAL JP public outreach. It is a critical tool to help the AAL JP capitalise on the growing importance of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for ageing well. The website has been designed to communicate to relevant wide variety of stakeholders and it focuses on the projects that have already been funded along with the future funding opportunities offered by this programme. Together with this website, the AAL JP is also publishing its new Google+ page, so that interested parties can become more connected to our activities, read our latest initiatives, and see pictures. The Linked In, as well as the You Tube page, have also been refreshed to engage the continuosly growing AAL community in Europe. Mike Biddle, President of the AAL Association, said in a statement that "this new website will provide useful tools and information for end-users, businesses, researchers and policy makers about the activities of the AAL JP". And he continued, "The portal will also provide information on the funding opportunities offered by the programme, and will offer the chance to highlight the outcomes of the projects already in place".

VPHOP hypermodel technology: the programmable wrapper

Within the VPHOP project, SCS and University of Bedfordshire are developing the ICT infrastructure that will give the possibility to execute what we call hypermodels.
