Post doctoral position for crystallographer, solid state physicist, solid state chemist, material scientist for 2 years.

Construction of and probing of chemical reactions in in-situ reaction cells by synchrotron X-ray experiments.

The project is part of the MATsynCELL project within the "Röntgen-Ångström Cluster" framework program (http://www.rontgen-angstrom.eu/) held jointly by
Stockholm University (SU) and Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in
Sweden, and Christian-Albrechts-Universität and Ruhr-Universität in Germany to build up a
consortium MATsynCELL.

The project is to construct, test and apply a new in situ reaction cell for diffraction and spectroscopic experiments using synchrotron radiation which works at variable temperature, pressure and atmospheric environments. The German part of the project within the MATsynCELL is the construction and testing of the reaction cell. The Swedish collaborators will extensively study the MOF formation and interaction with guest molecules. MOFs are a class of interesting porous materials because of their importance in catalysis, energy storage, gas separation and storage. The main tasks are developing heterogeneous catalysts and catalytic reactions, and understanding the catalytic performance.

The successful candidate should have experience in experimentation with synchrotron radiation under non-ambient conditions. He or she will lead the development of the in situ cell including remote control at RU Bochum. Implementation will be realized at synchrotron laboratories in collaboration with beam line scientists of synchrotron light sources and the Swedish groups performing the in situ experiments. The candidate should have a strong collaborative and communication skills and be self-motivated.

Interested candidates should send their applications via e-Mail to
