Protein design and engineering student research opening
IMDEA Nanociencia

There is an opening for a research student interested in carrying out studies on
the design of functional proteins for biotechnological applications at IMDEA
Nanociencia (Campus Cantoblanco, Madrid). The work will be performed under the
supervison and mentoring of Dr. Aitziber L. Cortajarena at the CNB
(Cantoblanco, Madrid). The work will include gene synthesis, over-expression,
purification and biochemical, biophysical, and functional characterization of
designed proteins. Training in a great variety of different techniques is
guaranteed. Candidates should posses a degree in biochemistry, chemistry,
biology, pharmacy, physics, or similar, or be a student in the last year of the
degree.

We are looking for a candidate to apply to the "Ayudas de Iniciación
a la Investigación en Nanociencia 2010" program launched by IMDEA Nanociencia
(see details in the link below and attached file). The duration of the program
is 3 months and the starting date can be flexible (no later than September 15th
2010). After this training program there would the possibility to start a
PhD program.
