We offer an introductory fellowship to implement a Ph.D. thesis on new ecological control methods of insect pests. The project deals with the development of natural attractants of insects and evaluation of their biological activity in electrophysiological and behavioral assays in the laboratory and tests in the field. The candidate should apply for an official fellowship (JAE-Predoc, FPU, FI, etc.) in due course. We are pioneer in Spain in the field of insect sex pheromones, attractants and inhibitors, and the enzymes involved in their perception and degradation processes. Stipend: 1200 euros/month for up to 12 months.

Required: Directed to students with a B.Sc./M.Sc. in Biology with a high motivation for research and good knowledge in Entomology and written and spoken English. The average academic qualification of the B.Sc. studies should be higher than 2.2 over 4 to apply for the fellowship, and the candidates should have finished their studies after January 1, 2008.
