- eHealth week 2010 - Barcelona

For the first time, the Ministerial High Level Conference on eHealth and the World Health IT (WoHIT) Conference and Exhibition are being held in the same week in a joint initiative called "e-Health Week 2010". More than 2500 delegates are expected during this eHealth week, representing the majority of eHealth sector: ministers, members of the public administration, clinics, suppliers and managers of information and informatics systems. An interactive exhibition will gather more than 75 exhibitors and country pavilions. Check regularly the WoHIT website as updates are being made every week.

- Commission launches Call for Proposals for Networking sessions at ICT 2010

(25 January 2010)The European Commission published today the call for proposals for the Networking sessions at ICT 2010. The event, taking place in Brussels on 27-29 September 2010, will host dozens of networking sessions designed to facilitate contacts between researchers and innovators, engineers and investors from all fields of digital innovation. The ICT community can propose the topics for the networking sessions. This is your chance to help us focus the agenda of ICT and build future partnerships with the right people in your field! Deadline: 15 April 2010.

(22 January 2010)The new website for the ICT 2010 research event is now online. The event will take place in Brussels, Belgium from 27 - 29 September. It is organised by the European Commission in cooperation with the Belgian Presidency of the European Union and will examine European Union priorities in ICT research for over €2 billion of funding available in 20011-2012. More than 4000 participants are expected to attend the event. News and updates are also available from the ICT 2010 Twitter page.

(8 January 2010)TRANSFoRm, A project consortium of 15 European Universities and two private partners have just signed a contract with the European Commission to develop methods, standards and systems for the integration of healthcare computer systems for clinical care and research. The project has two aims 1)To aid General Practitioners in diagnosis by integrating decision support directly into their electronic records systems; 2)To speed up the recruitment, management and follow up of patients for research studies by enabling routine electronic health record systems to link to research databases. There are considerable challenges to be overcome in the legal and ethical domains in relation to access of data, legal frameworks for research, models for interoperability between systems and the development of standards and sustainable models for deploying and using the work of the project.

(Deadline: 01/06/2010) A call for proposals has been launched under the 2010 Work Programme of the Information and Communication Technologies Policy Support Programme (ICT PSP) as part of the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (2007 to 2013). The Work Programme 2010 focuses on 6 themes: ICT for a low carbon economy and smart mobility; Digital Libraries; ICT for health and inclusion; Open innovation for future Internet-enabled services in smart cities; ICT for improved public services for citizens and businesses; Multilingual Web.
