- Telecoms: European Commission extends consultation on draft measures for IP traffic exchange in Poland

(5 January 2010)In a letter just sent the European Commission has informed the Polish telecoms regulator, UKE, that it has serious doubts whether UKE is right to define two separate markets for IP traffic exchange (IP transit and IP peering with the network of Telekomunikacja Polska). The Commission has also questioned the assigned incumbent with significant market power in those markets. During the following two months the Commission will assess further market data from UKE and consult with market players.

- Telemedicine and Legal Aspects workshop

The workshop will address the legal and logistics dimensions in Telemedicine practice. Subjects to be covered include legal liability of practicioners, patient data privacy and protection, as well as financial and logistics subjects, such as reimbursement of services. A telemedicine use case will be presented to the participants. The workshop should facilitate the dissemination of good practice initiatives, knowledge and experiences on the field, with the aim to accelerate the uptake of Telemedicine solutions and to improve both policy-making and research.

- MEDIA production guarantee fund - 2010/S 1-000123 - Notice of a call for expressions of interest.

(Deadline: 15/03/2010) The Commission has published a call for expressions of interest (2010/S 1-000123) on January 2nd 2010 in view of setting up a loan guarantee mechanism in the framework of the MEDIA 2007 Programme. This MEDIA Production Guarantee Fund will be aimed at supporting and facilitating the access of European audiovisual companies to bank credits.
