- Beyond Silos - The Why and How of ICT in Integrated Care Service Provision
-
23 November 2011 Eindhoven, The Netherlands
Today's healthcare and social care services are usually delivered independently, leading to inefficiencies, duplication of resources or reduced levels of quality of care. Older people are particularly affected by this situation since they often need both types of services, such as support with daily living activities and chronic disease management. ICT has the potential to support integrated service delivery to achieve high quality independent living and wellbeing for older people across Europe and elsewhere. Against this background, the conference will look beyond today's care silos at strategies, processes and business models to reach this goal.

- Empowering the patient: European Commission wants clearer rules for information on prescription medicines
-
(11 October 2011) On October 11th, he European Commission adopted revised proposals clarifying the information that industry can supply to the public on prescription-only medicines. Patients are increasingly interested in learning more about the medicines they take and want more of a say in how they are treated. At the same time, patients are confronted with a growing volume of information from various sources and often find it difficult to identify reliable information about medicines. The increased use of the internet over recent years makes the need for clarity even more important. Online information on medicines must be accurate and reliable. In its revised proposals, the Commission amends its original proposals of 2008 and responds to requests from the European Parliament.

- ICT for Societal Challenges
-
11 October 2011
Thanks to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)it will be possible in the future to provide all citizens, regardless of their location, with better and personalised healthcare, achieving at the same time relevant cost savings for patients and the society at large. Citizens and business' interactions with public authorities will be faster and more effective, also across the borders. A greater number of people will be able to live safely and independently, and those from disadvantaged groups will be able to get fully involved in society. Last but not least, ICT will help tackling environmental issues, such as energy saving, in the perspective of a sustainable growth. This booklet lists projects that illustrate these benefits and show the strong potential in addressing and solving societal challenges.

- Enterprise 2.0 in Europe
-
7 October 2011
The present report contains the final results for the study on "Enterprise 2.0 in Europe", produced by Tech4i2, IDC and Headshift for the European Commission. The report is addresses 4 main issues: What is Enterprise 2.0? Why it matters? How is it implemented? So what should the European Commission do? The key novelty lies not so much in technological developments, but in the values of web 2.0: emergent approach, open innovation, no hierarchy, many-to-many, rapid development. In particular, we consider E20 as a key enabler of open innovation and innovative working practices (results driven, employee centered, based on open communication).
