ICT 2010 - Early bird registration extended until 9 July

(30 June 2010)Europe's most visible forum for ICT research and innovation has become a unique gathering point for researchers, business people, investors, and high level policy makers in the field of digital innovation. ICT 2010 will focus on policy priorities such as Europe's Digital Agenda and the next financial programme of the European Union for funding research and innovation in ICT. Lab Tests Online portal provides information on clinical laboratory tests

(25 June 2010)This 'Health On the Net (HON)' certified portal works essentially as an electronic information source about medical examinations and their effects on patients' health. It is a non-commercial multilingual information portal on laboratory testing. It includes information about key clinical tests, the relevant clinical conditions, similar diseases as well as preventive screening programmes for various types of users and ages.

PASSPORT: PAtient-Specific Simulation and PreOperative Realistic Training for liver surgery

(29 June 2010)The June eHealth Monthly Focus on a project dealing with preoperative surgery. Surgery has the best survival rate in liver pathologies. However, the eligibility is limited due to a bad knowledge of each patient's hepatic specificities. PASSPORT will provide new models and tools to overcome such limits.

PRESS RELEASE
Europeans are more interested in science than sport and want EU research boosted

(21 June 2010)According to a new Eurobarometer report published today, nearly 80% of Europeans say they are interested in scientific discoveries and technological developments, compared to 65% interested in sport. Over 70% of Europeans think EU-funded research will become more important in the future. 57% think scientists should put more effort into communicating about their work and 66% believe governments should do more to interest young people in scientific issues. Europeans overwhelmingly recognise the benefits and importance of science but many also express fears over risks from new technologies and the power that knowledge gives to scientists.

Study on enhancing procurement of ICT solutions for healthcare (Smart 2010/0072)

(Deadline: 30/07/2010) This study is aimed at developing guidelines for decision makers and procurers within public healthcare authorities and care delivery organisations on how to conduct consistent and systematic planning processes when strategic considerations point to the adoption of eHealth solutions and how to transfer the planning to the procurement specifications and process.

Interoperable eHealth is Worth it - Securing Benefits from Electronic Health Records and ePrescribing

The EHR IMPACT study, commissioned by the Information Society and Media Directorate General of the European Commission, comprises nine quantitative and two qualitative independent evaluations of good practice cases of interoperable electronic health record (EHR) and ePrescribing systems in Europe and beyond. The goal of the study is to inform and support ongoing initiatives and implementation work by the European Commission, Member State governments, private investors, and other actors. The study aims to improve awareness of the benefits and provide new empirical evidence on the socio-economic impact and lessons learnt from successfully implemented systems.
