The Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry (http://www.bgc-jena.mpg.de/) is dedicated to the study of long-term interactions among the biosphere, atmosphere, geosphere, and the oceans.

The Department "Integration of Biogeochemical Cycles" is seeking a

Geospatial programmer / Data manager

Accountabilities:
• Development of geodatabases for efficient use and interpretation of large spatiotemporal data sets
• Development of an internet data exchange portal
• Consultancy and support of data intensive research projects
• Documentation of the data infrastructure for scientific users
• Management of geodata, data collection, and maintenance

Qualifications:
• Degree in Geomatic Engineering, Informatics, or comparable qualifications
• Experience with the common geodata formats and netCDF
• Proficiency in UNIX, a higher programming language, and preferably a script language for scientific com-puting (R, Matlab, Julia, ...)
• Interest in methodological work as well as quantitative analysis skills would be desirable
• Team spirit and excellent communication skills
