A PhD research position is available in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics of the University of Liverpool leading to the award of a PhD degree in the areas of cognitive radio/dynamic spectrum access and 5G mobile communications. The PhD project will contribute to one the Department's key strategic research themes by investigating novel methods for spectrum awareness in dynamic spectrum access systems. The scope of this research is to analyse the impact of practical (imperfect) operating conditions and impairments present in real systems and develop efficient and low-cost spectrum awareness methods to overcome degrading effects. The research will combine theoretical analysis, computer simulation and hardware/prototype experiments.
The University of Liverpool is a member of the Russell Group (www.russellgroup.ac.uk) and one of the UK's leading research universities. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics (http://www.liverpool.ac.uk/electrical-engineering-and-electronics) undertakes world class research in cooperation with over 50 prominent companies and research organisations worldwide.
This PhD project is co-funded by the Department and the UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) and will be carried out in close cooperation with Ahmedabad University, India.
