We are looking for candidates for a researcher vacancy at CeDInt-UPM VR Lab.
The selected candidate will be integrated into a multidisciplinary team working on the initial stages of a research project dealing with the assembly, simulation and multiscale visualization of biological nanoparticles. The ultimate project goal is to provide an integrated set of mechanisms and tools able to support the design, manipulation and visualization of biological nanoparticles in real-time.
The selected candidate will be asked to collaborate in the preparation and submission of the FPU proposal aimed to fund the fellowship costs for a period of 24-48 months (full-time equivalent). In case of success, his/her tasks within the project will include:
• Training-through-research through an individual personalized project and under the supervision of two advanced and complimentary scientists leading the proposal.
• Hands-on training to develop his/her scientific skills (improving / developing new simulation and multiscale visualization techniques and tools suitable for the application domain) and his/her complementary skills (proposal preparation to request funding, patent applications, project management, tasks coordination, technical staff supervision, etc.)
• Interdisciplinary knowledge transfer involving scientists in the fields of biotechnology, biochemistry and computer graphics
• Building new collaborations for further projects aimed to guarantee the continuity of the research line
• Active scientific management of his/her research activity and technical coordination of specific tasks
• Organization of training and dissemination events.

Collaborative and positive thinking as well as advanced English speaking and writing skills are considered a requirement.
Interested candidates are encouraged to provide evidence on their knowledge and experience in several of the following areas:
1) Graphical Libraries: Open GL, DirectX, QT, VTK, etc.
2) Graphic Hardware: GPUs programming (Shader languajes, CUDA, OpenCl)
3) Parallel computing and cluster programming (network, synchronization, MPI, OpenMP, etc.).
4) Languages and Tools: C++, Python, MS Visual Studio, SVN, SourceSafe, etc.
5) Image processing and computer vision (OpenCV)
6) Software (3D Engines): Virtools, Unity, Ogre3D...
7) Stereoscopic displays, haptic technologies, VRPN.
