Conference EU-US Memorandum of Understanding on eHealth

The conference, stems from the work to promote collaboration done through NIMAC – the Northern Ireland Massachusetts Connection – an informal organization formed in 2009 which includes Massachusetts, Northern Ireland, Finland and the Catalonia region of Spain. It is designed to bring Health and Economic benefits to the citizens of both Europe and the US by the exchange of information, policy convergence and connecting like-minded companies, research institutions and others.

Collective Awareness Platforms for Sustainability and Social Innovation - Information Day

(02/07/2012) Collective Awareness Platforms for Social Innovation and Sustainable Social Changes (CAPS) are ICT systems that use the emerging "network effect" by combining open online social media, distributed knowledge creation and data from real environments (Internet of Things), in order to create new forms of social innovation. They are expected to support environmentally aware, grassroots processes and practices to share knowledge, to achieve changes in lifestyle, production and consumption patterns, and to set up more participatory democratic processes. This information day aims to generate ideas to solve societal problems using collective intelligence, knowledge and insight. Ideas could then be developed into proposals for the forthcoming ICT Call 10.

Programme for the Competitiveness of enterprises and #SMEs (COSME) 2014-2020

The new Programme for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (COSME) will run from 2014 to 2020, with a planned budget of €2.5bn (current prices). The Objectives are: -facilitating access to finance for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs); -creating an environment favourable to business creation and growth; -encouraging an entrepreneurial culture in Europe; -increasing the sustainable competitiveness of EU companies and -helping small businesses operate outside their home countries and improving their access to markets.

Telecoms services improving, but regulatory divergences should be addressed to support further innovation

High speed internet is a lifeline for economic recovery which provides new opportunities to enjoy and create web content, to innovate or to buy, sell and carry out business online The telecoms sector has a key role to play in the race towards a digital EU society, where growth and jobs can be delivered by better and faster on-line activities. The report on the progress of the sector released today as part of the Digital Agenda Scoreboard shows how citizens are enjoying greater choice of services and better prices, as a result of competitive developments. It also shows that operators are faced with new realities as users' appetite for data, in particular mobile data, keeps growing. The report also identifies a number of areas where more co-ordinated implementation of the telecoms rules is required to support the roll-out of high speed internet.

This one-day workshop will bring together neuroscientist and clinicians to discuss the synergic integration between the computational methods and technologies used in neuroscience, in order to organise, manage and access the neuroscientific knowledge. "Tech All Stars" award for most innovative web start-up company

Cognicor Technologies, a Spanish start-up offering an automated complaint resolution service, is the winner of Europe's "Tech All Stars" prize, an EU-wide competition to find the best web start-up, awarded by European Commission Vice President Neelie Kroes. Cognicor will showcase its company at the Digital Agenda Assembly today in Brussels.
