Top News Neelie Kroes welcomes European Parliament endorsement of eHealth Action Plan Neelie Kroes welcomes the support of the European Parliament for the eHealth Action Plan which addresses barriers to the full use of digital solutions in Europe's healthcare systems. On the 14th of January, MEPs voted on a resolution in support of the plan to improve healthcare for the benefit of patients, give patients more control of their care and bring down costs. EU awards 3.3 million to RASimAs for simulating anesthesia outcome A better outlook for those about to undergo surgery or have a child: The RASimAs project has been awarded 3.3 million euros to work on a virtual reality simulator for doctors performing regional anesthesia. Mobility for renal patients with wearable artificial kidney In the near future, chronic renal patients don't have to constantly go to the hospital anymore for a dialysis. The experts of the EU-funded NEPHRON+ project are testing a mobile artificial kidney for continuous on-body blood purification. "If tested well, the tool would be a major leap forward in renal care." Innovation Trillium Bridge is looking to share patient data between EU and US What if you, while visiting the US, need urgent medical help and the doctor doesn't know your medical history? The EU-funded Trillium Bridge project wants to align the use of standards between the EU and the US to share basic patient data between health professionals.
