CIC Energigune is seeking for a Postdoctoral researcher that will develop ceramic electrolyte thin films for microbattery applications. The research will be integrated in the framework of a joint European project coordinated by CIC Energigune and in partnership with a research center and two international companies. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary and collaborative team of young researchers.
The project will start in first half of 2016 with a total duration of 2 years.
Job description:
The candidate is expected to carry out the following tasks:
Thin film growth of garnet-type electrolytes by Physical Vapor Deposition techniques (PVD).
Structural and surface characterization of thin films and evaluation of their electrochemical properties under space-like conditions.
Integration of the developed ceramic electrolyte with thin film anodes and cathodes to prove full cell device concept. Characterization of the electrode/electrolyte interfaces.
Write technical reports, present results in meetings and assist the team leader in the preparation and follow-up activities of the project.
Your profile:
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or other related topics.
Proved experience in thin film growth by magnetron sputtering is required, as well as knowledge of thin film characterization techniques, e.g. scanning probe microscopies, spectroscopy or other synchrotron-based techniques.
Experience with electrochemical characterization techniques, such as Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy, and knowledge on complex oxide growth or other PVD techniques will be an asset.
We expect high readiness to work with strong engagement and creativity in an interdisciplinary and international environment.

Good command of English is required.
