This Week on Kickstarter

June 13, 2013

This week we're presenting a few projects that see the world in a different light. From civic architecture, to social interaction, to a simple mind game, these projects hint at a future much different from our past.

+ POOL, Tile by Tile

by Family and PlayLab

Category Design

Location Brooklyn, NY

Sea change

A lot of Kickstarter projects have grand visions for the future, and + Pool is certainly one of them. Spurred by the idea that any body of water can be transformed into a clean place for public swimming, the team is dedicated to building its ambitious project in New York's East River, and wants you to put your name on a tile.

Question Bridge Interactive

by Hank Willis Thomas

Category Digital Art

Location New York, NY

Create a dialogue

"Many of the transformative moments in history have been generated by things that you could formally describe as art." This is the premise behind Question Bridge, a social-art project that seeks to create a dialogue about identity and shatter stereotypes in the process. It's a unique, interactive project that's using the internet to create a better future for all.

Mind game

Made of 52 moving parts and capable of 125 decillion permutations, the X-Cube is a modern take on the logic puzzle. Birthed from a 3D printer, this shape-shifting puzzle is also an open-source project. Pledge what you want, download the files, and see how this mathematical mind game works!
